IHE Highways Awards
It was a busy night for 4way at the recent Highway Awards with two of our Engineers accepting awards from the Institute of Highway Engineers for their professional registration submissions. Shane Collins received the award for CEng submission of the year with Rebecca Bollen picking up the award for IEng submission of the year.
Both awards are the result of significant professional commitment, personal effort and are richly deserved. Congratulations to Rebecca and Shane from everyone at 4way.

Smart Motorway Programme
2021 was another busy year for 4way in the world of Smart Motorways. In support of National Highways commitment to deliver Stopped Vehicle Detection (SVD) technology on operational smart motorway sections, we successfully commissioned equipment on the M20, M23, M1 and M6. In parallel we continued to support the design and implementation of new schemes, collaborating with members of the Smart Motorway Alliance and regional stakeholders to deliver motorway upgrades.
2022 shows no sign of slowing with three additional sections of the M1 and one section of the M5 being readied for SVD commissioning early in the New Year. With new All Lane Running schemes also scheduled to open on the M1, M56, M27, M6 and M4, we look set for another challenging and exciting 12 months.

RSGB Collaboration
Being a member of the RAG Stiftung organisation presents lots of opportunities for 4way to collaborate with like-minded innovative businesses across sectors and international borders. Having already established strong relationships with our RSBG UK sister companies (including Pell Frischmann, Desco, McBains, Leslie Jones Architects, GENECON and The Yard Creative), we turned our attention to the wider group in 2021.
Equally exciting for 4way is the ability to integrate specialist IT technical expertise which is becoming increasingly important to the ITS sector. International partners such as Securview and Qvest are enabling 4way to offer more in this space including data services, IT architecture and cyber security.
By establishing an international ITS Cluster we have created a platform for the sharing of best practice with organisations including Dorsch Gruppe and PB Consult. This collaborative effort is already bearing fruit on ITS projects in Egypt and we anticipate further growth during 2022.
2022 was already looking like an exciting year for 4way but these collaborative partnerships are enabling us to think more expansively, innovate and aim higher.
