Smart Cities: Urban ITS Discipline Lead
My career started out in software development in the early 90’s, working on management information systems that monitored call activity on telephone exchanges. I progressed into mainstream technology support and IT project delivery which eventually led me to Highways England with whom I spent 10 enjoyable years. I joined 4way in 2021.
I have always seen technology as part of the enabling service that realises the customers’ outcomes. I’ve therefore tried to gather as much experience as possible in the design and delivery of systems and services which optimise the blend of technology, people, process and culture. This has led to me holding a deep interest in intelligent mobility and how that can be delivered cohesively in the context of both local and strategic road networks.
I am involved in a number of local community groups that focus on maintaining and improving local amenities. Since lockdown I have also embraced the concept of ‘Active Travel’, increasing my walking and even dusting off my old bike so that it can be used for more than just leisure pursuits.
