LED Lighting Upgrade Design
The challenge
Tameside Council required technical advice and design services to deliver LED upgrades to their lighting stock across the Borough. The core requirements were a design solution which achieved BS5489-1 compliance using existing columns whilst supporting overall energy and carbon reduction targets.
What we did
The implementation programme was split into two separate phases. For both, 4way undertook site surveys of all existing lighting assets, updating asset records in order to facilitate a right first time design output. We developed the technical specification for the lantern to ensure that point-for-point replacements would achieve the required lighting levels.
Our design packs included drawings, lighting calculations and schedules which supported a rolling programme of lantern procurement and installations on site. For Phase 2 we reviewed and updated the lantern specification to ensure alignment with recently updated technical guidance.
Our results
Both phases were delivered on time with compliant solutions achieved for all assets. As a result the Authority has witnessed a significant reduction in reactive maintenance costs for lantern outages. Lighting energy savings of 6,700,000kWh have also been achieved across the Borough.
